Newton Stewart Golf Club

The Hotel is just 400 yards away from the 1st Tee of this picturesque 18-hole golf course which makes an ideal start for your golfing holiday. The parkland course is set on the fringe of the Galloway hills with magnificent views over Wigtown Bay.
The 18 holes comprise two par 5's, five par 3's and the remainder par 4s. 

The Clubhouse offers full facilities: ladies and gents toilets, changing rooms and catering is available from March to October. Subject to availability, buggies can also be hired, but must be booked in advance.

Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club

A pleasant 9 hole course that offers a good test of golf to players of all abilities.

Set in rolling parkland on the edge of Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town, the course is a haven for those seeking relaxing golf and a friendly atmosphere. Around the course there are magnificent views of Wigtown Bay. Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club

 

Wigtownshire County Golf Club, Glenluce

The "County" Golf Club is situated on the shores of the scenic Luce Bay, around 17 miles from Newton Stewart. The excellent condition of the course, combined with subtly sloping greens and changing sea breezes, provides a test of ability for both high and low handicappers.
There are 14 par 4's, 3 par 3's and 1 par 5. 

Visitors will find a friendly and informal atmosphere in the recently rebuilt and refurbished clubhouse. There are changing and shower facilities for ladies and gents. There is a well stocked bar and catering is available throughout the year.

Portpatrick (Dunskey) Golf Club

There are two courses in this complex - the 18-hole course known as The Dunskey Course and the 9-hole par 3 known as The Dinvin Course. Set on the cliffs above the picturesque village of Portpatrick, this is a links type course which presents a challenge to handicap golfers of all abilities. The 9 hole Dinvin Course adjacent to the Dunskey Course is perfect for beginners, families or those without a handicap.

The club has a fairly modern clubhouse with shower, changing and toilet facilities for both ladies and gents. There is a well stocked bar, dining area and very pleasant lounge. Catering facilities are normally available at all times during the season.

Individual golfers or couples can usually be accommodated through the week, but at the weekends it is prudent to book ahead. Trolleys are available for hire and handicap certificates are required for the Dunskey Course.

Gatehouse of Fleet Golf Club

This 9-hole course is set in an idyillic location with stunning views over Wigtown Bay and The Clints of Drummore.
The clubhouse has basic changing facilities for both ladies and gents.

Stranraer Golf Club

Stranraer Golf course offers golfers, regardless of their handicap, the chance of an unforgettable game of golf. There are 14 par 4's 3 par 3's and 1 par 5. The course, set on the shores of Loch Ryan, with wonderful views of the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig, was designed by James Braid. This course is a must for golfers visiting the area.  
The clubhouse offers full facilities and catering is available at all times. 
It is advisable to book in advance to confirm the tee off time you require is available. 
Approximately 27 miles from Newton Stewart.

New Galloway Golf Club

This is a superb 9-hole course with excellent tees and first class greens. The first and second fairways lead up to a viewpoint which many think is unsurpassed in beauty and extent. This upland layout is an absolute haven for wildlife - buzzards fly overhead, wild flowers abound - so you don't have to be a golfer to enjoy this course. The course is approximately 21 miles from the hotel. 

The clubhouse is fairly basic, with changing facilities for ladies and gents. Bar facilities are usually available between 12 noon and 2pm in the summer months. Meals are available at various local hotels in New Galloway, which is close by. New Galloway Golf Club


St Medan Golf Club

The course is set on a very picturesque and historic promontory just below Monreith Bay. It is laid out on coastal land and is a very tricky 9 hole course with plenty of interest. If you can play this course to your handicap you are doing well.

Lagganmore Golf Club

With its magnificent location only 2 miles from Portpatrick & 6 miles from Stranraer, Lagganmore enjoys outstanding views of the surrounding countryside, including a grand panorama towards Dunskey Castle & the North Channel; & on a clear day, a prospect of the Mountains of Mourne beyond the Irish Coast. 

Superbly designed for the new millenium, the course has already been hailed by experts as a true challenge to the hardened golfer, with the 7th green in particular being regarded as the best par 5 in Wigtownshire. Included in the new Centre there is a superb clubhouse, a floodlit driving range - the only one in the vicinity - & full bar & catering facilities.

Kirkcudbright Golf Club

This is an 18 hole parkland course of excellent quality and variety. There are some gentle slopes to climb but you are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the Dee estuary and the surrounding countryside. Certainly a course well worth playing and a good test for golfers of all abilities. 

There is an extensive club house with changing, toilet, and shower facilities for both ladies and gents. There is a well appointed lounge, bar and dining area and a catering service is normally available every day during the season. You are sure to find a warm welcome at Kirkcudbright.

Gretna Golf Club

This is a well designed and well kept 9-hole course and as the standard scratch of 72 (for 18 holes) would suggest, it is a good test for golfers of all abilities. Parkland would best describe the course although it is set close to the Solway estuary with magnificent views across to Cumbria and the lake District hills. 
The Clubhouse is a new building with both ladies and gents changing facilities. 

For visitors from England, this course is ideal for playing on the day you arrive or on the day of departure as it breaks the journey, approximately 70 miles from Newton Stewart.
